The “Jungsim” candidates won the presidential election for the 2023 General Student Council (GSC) at Chonnam National University. The election was held online from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on December 6. The voter turnout was 33.7 percent of the voting eligible population. Jeong Youn-jung (Senior, Dept. of Education) and Park Hye-min (Sophomore, School of Polymer Science and Engineering) have been elected as the president and vice president of the 2023 GSC respectively. They earned 4,269 votes that represents 86.05 percent of the total votes including blank ballots.

The election was held a year after the failure of the student council election due to the absence of candidates. Finally, the GSC is formed in 2023. As the absence of the student council has been filled, we hope that the 2023 GSC will be more responsible and communicate more with students. The Central Election Management Committee will announce that they have been elected as the president and vice president of the 2023 GSC after the end of the objection within 24 hours of the election result.
