The Gwangju Women’s Hot Line and the Human Rights Center of Chonnam National University (CNU) campaigned for the 2022 International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women on Nov. 25. The event was held for students and citizens in front of the Library Annex at CNU from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The campaign was aimed at informing the seriousness of dating violence and stalking damage and improving public awareness of female violence victims.
There were activities such as classifying and attaching stickers related to dating violence and stalking awareness, solving quizzes, and attaching post-it notes to promote "solidarity." Yang Ju-ae, Team Leader of the Human Rights Center, said, “We planned to campaign here at 5∙18 Square that is the symbol of CNU. It was a good opportunity to promote the human rights center. We made a good choice to run a coffee van that is popular with students.”
Cha Kyung-hee, Women’s Rights Activist of Gwangju Women’s Hot Line, said, “Through this activity, I hope many people know that stalking is no other person's problem, but something that can happen around us. I am grateful to students and citizens for their active participation.” While joining the campaign, Park Jin-gyeom (Sophomore, Dept. of English Language and Literature) said, “I could think about stalking again. I hope this campaign will be carried out again at CNU next year.”
