전남대, 국제교류박람회 개최

   The International Education Fair (IEF) at Chonnam National University (CNU) was held at Yongbong Hall on March 25th. The IEF was hosted by the Office of International Affairs (OIA) and each program was held at the conference room and seminar room in the OIA. Students who have studied abroad related tales of their school lives in foreign universities. Many sister universities and international programs at CNU were also introduced to students. One of the participants, Lee Young-jo (Junior, Dept. of Chemical Engineering), said, “I learned lots of information about international programs operated by CNU. This opportunity was very good for me because I am planning to be an exchange student in the future.”
 
 
CNU Agrees to Cooperation with Leipzig, Germany
 
Chonnam National Unversity (CNU) made an agreement with Leipzig, Germany, to maintain cooperative relations on March 9th. Kim Yoon-soo, the president of CNU, had a meeting with Uwe Albrecht, the deputy mayor of Leipzig, Germany, to cooperate in Bio-energy, Biomedical, and Optical-technique research. As a result of the meeting, CNU is expected to lead the exchange of cultural arts between Gwangju and Leipzig. Moreover, CNU promised to cooperate with Leipzig to promote democracy and human rights in Korea. Through this agreement, the advancement of education and research in Gwangju and Leipzig is expected. Leipzig was the source of democratization in East Germany like Gwangju in Korea.
 
A Special Talk about Burma’s Democratization
 

  A democracy activist from Burma (the former name of Myanmar), Soe Moe Thu, held a special lecture to discuss the democratization of Burma and human rights of migrants in Korea on March 9th at the International Conference Hall at Chonnam National University Law School. The lecture was organized by the Center for Public Interest & Human Rights Law of Chonnam National University. The central theme of the lecture was “Heralding the Democratization of Burma in Korea”, which included the history of military dictatorship in Burma, Burmese efforts to achieve democracy in the country, and his democratization activities for Burma in Korea. Soe Moe Thu is a representative of Migrant World TV and a manager of the Korea Branch of Burma Action.
