The elections for the 2011 General Student Council (GSC) and Female Student Council (FSC) at Chonnam National University (CNU) was held from November 23rd to December 2nd. This election which two parties of candidates run for the 2011 GSC was the first time over last five years at CNU. Junsul candidates for the 2011 GSC and the FSC, and Woori candidates competed this election campaign. After the election campaign, the vote counting for the President and Vice president of the 2011 GSC and the FSC was held at Yongbong Hall on November 29th. It was the second vote counting for the 2011 GSC because the first vote counting on November 25th was interrupted by the Central Elections Commission (CEC) on November 26th. There were many arguments about the 'real' reason because it was not clear why the CEC interrupted the vote counting and the CEC's vice-chairman resigned suddenly aftec the vote counting for the FSC was finished.
After the second vote counting for the 2011 GSC it took about 3 hours,  the Junsul GSC candidates won 59.93 percentage of the vote, more than 2,876 ballots of the Woori GSC candidates. However, their election was not confirmed right away, and all the problems related to the voting will be dealt with in the conference of General Student Representative Council (GSRC) according to the CEC. On December 2nd, the GSRC's conference was held at Yongbong Hall, and the representatives discussed several problems which had arisen during the election campaign and the vote counting process. After many discussions, Kim So-mang, the president of the CEC, announced the Junsul GSC candidates has been elected for the 2011 GSC.
Park Eun-cheol (Senior, Division of Forest Resoursces),  Elected President of the 2011 GSC, said, “I run for the president of the GSC to change CNU.
