The Gong-Bu-Il-Chon program
Get paid to study. The Gong-Bu-Il-Chon’ program offers money to students that form study groups with their friends. The Education Development Research Institute (EDRI) designed this program to develop student’s learning ability through voluntary team study. The Gong-Bu-Il-Chon is divided into three sub-programs: the first is for students who take the same lecture, the second is for students who have common topics of study, and the third is for graduate students. Groups should consist of at least four students. Every group should meet to study at least once a week and submit a weekly report about their meeting and what they learned to the EDRI’s homepage. Additionally they should meet with their professor twice or so per semester. After studying together for 8 weeks, each group has to hand in a final report. Each group receives 150,000 won in financial support and a certificate is issued upon completion of the program. This information will be recorded in each participant’s Student Activity Record. When the program is over, the team that has submitted the best report and has had excellent attendance will win some prize money.
The Way to Use the Library Ⅱ
If you are a freshman, you can have a question like this: If I can borrow a book at the university libraryⅠ, what kind of library is the University Library Ⅱ? CNUians can study only at the University library Ⅱ called Baekdo (white library). It has 12 reading rooms, which can accept about 1,200 students from second floors to fourth floors. But, it would not let anybody enter without CNU Students ID card. There are some ‘ticket issuing’ machines on the first floor. If you want to study there, you should designate your seat through the machine using student ID card or Mobile students ID. Most of reading rooms consist of partition desks and students can use laptop computers freely there. In addition, CNUians can sign up to use a locker in University library Ⅱ, Baekdo in the beginning of semester. If you want to use the locker, you should submit application on the internet first and then wait to be assigned lockers in line at the library. As there are too many applicants for the lockers, they are assigned through a lottery system. You can also use seminar rooms by making a reservation for a room on the Internet.
