Live Each Day As If Was Your Last

Four faculties give an answer to Chonnam Tribune on how to counsel students. They offered various and useful instructions and advice. Benjamin Franklin says, “He that won’t be counseled can’t be helped.” We engrave this proverb in our mind and act according to it. Hereby, we can develop the mental and physical aspects to help CNU progress in 2008.
◎ Give a Motive to Your Life!
We examined the topic on the actual condition of student’s self-confidence in spring, 2007. We studied students of two different groups to investigate the awareness of students and we drew a conclusion that seniors have lower self-confidence than freshmen. I think that the longer the students lead a campus life, the less they feel confident than who is beginning the school life as a freshman. In relation to this result, I want to advise you to foster your self-confidence. The advice is to give motivation to your life and to participate in a variety of programs administered by school. Our school operates various programs such as an exchange student program, overseas study and training program and language in-service program abroad. But only a few students participate in them. I am sure that you will improve your self-confidence and will build the courage through those programs. It is the best way to bring about motivation for yourself for realizing your dreams and goals in life. I wish that you become an intellectual who is interested in community and care for the underprivileged.
◎ Be a Progressive Youth and Challenge a New Thing!
In my opinion, students should have a challenging spirit. I think that there are many students who have monotonous thinking and stay in their present position. I wish that CNU students could become progressive and challenge new things and take aim at a higher stage. Another advice is to choose professors as your mentors. They will assist you in various ways because they are experienced in human life and your major study. Therefore, you should request advice from professors bravely to solve your problems. Lastly, I recommend what you should make full use of school programs. Using the various school programs, you will have more appreciative eyes to the world. Don’t miss the chance!
◎ Have an Ideal Self-Image That You Want to Be!
You should set a determined goal that you want to achieve between three or ten years hence, and put what you should do for setting the goal into action. Before setting a determined goal, you will need an ideal self-image to achieve it. An ideal self-image means what you want to be and be doing. If it is difficult to draw your ideal self-image, you can do another things that select a role model among the great names of history. And it is not a must that a role model should be from the great names of history. It is okay to choose a living person as a role model. For example, if you want to be an emergency relief professional, you can choose Han Bi-ya as your role model.
◎ Live a Sincere Life and Set a Life Goal as Happiness!
Personally, I think that ideal students are living sincerely and having a responsibility for their lives. In other words, ideal students study hard both in their majors and liberal arts. They also do their best at everything and feel responsible for their jobs. It is not difficult to be an ideal student. In addition, I want to advise you to take aim at happiness as your life goal. The meaning of this happiness is not external happiness like having a beautiful appearance and accumulating wealth but internal happiness by heartfelt satisfaction such as doing voluntary service. This happiness will help your mentality grow and I wish your mentality will become more matured.
