“Hot stove league,” which is the off-season in sports, especially in baseball, is the secondary league to the fans. During this time, all the club members prepare for the next regular season while training on their weak points, new strategies, and changing the composition of the players. Each team can reinforce its strength as much as possible but with limited time and resources.

The Chonnam Tribune also has this kind of time every winter vacation to plan and prepare for the upcoming year. We believe that looking at ourselves helps us find areas where we can improve and strengthen. As an official student-led media of Chonnam National University, we publish our magazine entirely in English, an international language, which leads to diverse readers. Apart from the Gwangju News that was published by the Gwangju International Center, the Tribune is the only magazine in Gwangju to have English content from the first page to the last. While using English, our magazine operates actively in Gwangju, making its identity clear and unignorable.

This year, the Tribune expanded its pages. The creation of the Feature page aims to provide articles on a wider range of subjects that could not be covered due to the limitation of pages for various readers. On the People page, planning to explore Gwangju's culture and arts during this year is also derived from an interest in our city. Also, to connect with potential readers and bring them closer, we are exploring new ways to create online content, such as short videos. Changing the form of the Puzzle to an easier one was in the same vein. However, the unchanged focus is on representing the voice of the youth, covering issues from campus to local community, from local to global.

In a world of information overload, it is hard to say why the Tribune must be read. It is the reason why we have answered several questions when we look for items to cover. These questions are related to why the particular item should be addressed at that moment by the Chonnam Tribune. So, reporters must tackle the difficult task of expanding their insight into each issue. Going through this process, I find myself wishing that more people would read the Tribune. I call this desire in other words—Pride. As editor-in-chief, what matters the most this year is 'being read', and this matters more than ever.

The results of the hot stove league in baseball cannot be said to have an absolute influence on the regular season. Recruiting talented players does not mean they can lead every game to victory single-handedly. The outcomes of past training and the plans for the year do not always produce the expected impact. So, the only thing the Tribune can do is do our best as usual. After winter comes spring, the regular season of the Tribune begins with this March issue. So, the essence of a series of actions for publication hinges on the readers who are reading this article now.
