In March, freshmen enter the university, attend the welcoming parties, and spend plenty of time with their friends. Since most of them had studied hard to enter the university, they deserve some rewards. The true everlasting reward is “experience.” The first year of university is when students are the most energetic and full of passion for doing something. Here are some tips for the freshmen to make the most of their university experience.

First of all, club activities would be a way to live life to the fullest as a university student. Making friends who study different majors is difficult as there is no chance of meeting and getting familiar with each other without making an effort. However, club members share the same interests which would make it easier to get closer with each other rather than someone from the same major department with a different interest. For me, I joined ZOOM, a photography club during the pandemic. Not until I had registered for the club did I enjoy my dream life in college with many friends. The club activity helped me to make precious relationships and unforgettable memories. Sharing the same interests and developing skills while visiting many beautiful places could not be better.

While joining clubs is one recommendation to have the best college life, having a part-time job is a good way to experience a real social life. While you can live off your parents’ money, it is totally different to earn money by yourself and buy something with money of your own. It is meaningful not only for financial reasons but also for a better social relationship. You can expand your social network by meeting new people in different fields or from different backgrounds which would be helpful to broaden your perspective. Also, it can be a chance to experience the diversity of personality by mixing with people who are quite different from you. These experiences will be the foundation for you to be a better and stronger person.

The most important thing is just doing what you want and think. As time goes by, it is crucial to know yourself which would make a significant difference in setting up your life goals. There is no right way of starting a self-discovery. You can start by doing something you like, such as doing some extracurricular activities or spending time with friends. It will help you when the time comes to make some crucial choices in your life.

You are young enough to do whatever you want regardless of your age. The book “Finding Flow” said, “Life is acting, feeling, and thinking. Thus it’s experience.” It does not have to be anything to do with your future career. There is no such thing as a meaningless experience in the world, at least that is how I feel. Everything is okay. So, just do it.
