U.S. Diplomat Joshua Lustig gave a lecture at a town hall meeting in the College of Natural Science 3 building at Chonnam National University on March 24. As part of the program organized by the U.S. Embassy and CNU’s Office of International Affairs, the lecture was about the youth role in international society, in which around 60 students of the university participated. He began the lecture with the U.S. and South Korea’s relationship and his role in the U.S. Embassy. The next topic was about introducing programs and scholarships such as the American Diplomacy House Academy and the Fulbright Scholarship Program that students can apply for. During the Q&A session, he said, “What you are majoring in is not important, but going outside of your home country and attaining international experience and learning English skills will be helpful if you want a career in diplomacy.” After his lecture, an intern from the Embassy gave students tips for applying for the programs and said about her personal experience there. Overall students were satisfied with the program. Je Hye-jeong (Sophomore, School of Artificial Intelligence) said, “I was thinking of taking an MBA program in the U.S. for the future, so I came to get information about studying abroad. I have already participated in one of the programs, but it was nice to know other things as well.”
