CNU has been selected as an ”Accredited University” for degree programs and language training programs in the 2022 International Education Quality Assurance System (IEQAS) for the second consecutive year. The IEQAS, hosted by the Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation of Korea, is a certification system to attract more excellent international students to Korea by improving educational internationalization capabilities at Korean universities and by enhancing the quality of international student management in local universities. As CNU’s selection as an accredited university, the university will receive benefits including simplified visa issuance procedures, additional points when selecting a university for the Global Korea Scholarship program, and overseas promotional support for accredited universities through “Study in Korea,” which is the official website of the Korea Study Abroad System operated by the Ministry of Education. CNU will also be able to select foreign students in graduate schools with no limitations when it comes to the number of students. Dean for International Affairs Yoon Hyun-shik said, “We had to prepare for stricter evaluation criteria, but in the end we got the certificate. So we were very glad about it. CNU will provide fruitful support for international students and we expect CNU to become a globalized campus where they can fulfill their academic goals.” The accreditation will be valid for three years from March 2023 to February 2026. With this, the expectation is that CNU’s educational internationalization projects will gather momentum and have a government guarantee for quality education for international students.
