CNU's General Student Council (GSC) worked to raise earthquake relief funds for Turkey and Syria. Both countries are suffering greatly from the devastating aftermath of massive earthquakes that hit Turkey on February 6. Two weeks later, the council set up a fundraising box in the lobby of the Student Union 1 building. The fundraising box was open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day, from February 20 to March 17. For further support from students, faculty members, staff and alumni, an online donation account was also opened. Additionally, they encouraged the university members to participate in the donations through their social media platform, hosting a Q&A session and posting a progress report on the donations. According to the GSC, 1,034,000 won has been raised as of 10 a.m. on March 7. Maeng Seung-Ju (Sophomore, Faculty of Business Administration), who donated towards the cause said, “I think it is great that our school is encouraging students to engage in the aid of people in need. I hope other students will join in as well.” The student council will donate all proceeds collected through online and offline fundraising to the earthquake victims of Turkey and Syria.
