전남대 신입생 6천 5백여 명 입학

Chonnam National University (CNU) held its in-person entrance ceremony at Minjumaru (University Auditorium) on February 28 for the first time in four years since 2019. Around 6,500 undergraduate and graduate students attended the ceremony, in which the students with excellent grades from each college of the university were awarded. CNU President Jung Sungtaek encouraged new students by saying, “I was also a new student at CNU 43 years ago. You can get back up even if you fail, but that chance may be permitted only for university students. Please have the courage to get back up and try again if you fail. CNU will be the oceans and fair wind to float an aircraft carrier called ‘your bold dream’.” Welcoming the new students, the General Student Council hosted many events before the matriculation ceremony, such as special performances by CNU’s dance crew NEWERA and hip-hop crew SU:M. The student union also gave gifts for playing CNU related quiz games after the ceremony. Student councils of each college were also introduced to the freshmen. Jung Yu-na (Freshman, Dept. of Mathematics) said, “I expect to meet new friends and have a free campus life that is different from a fixed high school life.” This ceremony also took place on a metaverse platform called “CNU Metaversity.”
