Chonnam National University (CNU) held the first in-person Spring 2022 Commencement Ceremony on February 24 since 2019. The university conferred degrees to a total of 3,921 graduates, including 3,027 bachelor's, 741 master's, and 153 doctorate degrees at the ceremony. President Jung Sungtaek sent a message of congratulations to the graduating students, "We are living in an era where the pace of change is accelerating. CNU will always support you for endless challenges beyond the limits with the confident genes of your alma mater." All over the campus, graduating students wearing a school cap and holding a diploma took pictures with their family and friends who congratulated them on their graduation. The university also hosted a metaverse-based graduation ceremony on its metaverse platform CNU Metaversity, streaming the recorded video of the ceremony and graduation photos with avatars. Kim Bo-song (Graduate, Dept. of Political Science and International Relations) said, “During the ceremony, I looked back on my college years being busy working hard, and I feel relieved to have graduated from the university in that I could get out of the intense competition. But, at the same time, I already miss places full of memories on campus such as Yongji, Bongji, and schoolyards.”
