On December 22, Chonnam National University (CNU) held a farewell party for regular international students who will graduate and return to their homes after several years of studying in Gwangju. CNU has been throwing this event every single year, aiming at encouraging successful ending of studying experience at the university. Through this event, the students can strengthen their identity of CNU students even after leaving the campus and get encouraged as international students. 35 international students spent time in this year’s program under the title “Hey! First Time in Naju?” which was a cultural excursion held by the Office of International Affairs, with support from the Naju Social Cooperative.

During the farewell event, international students had time for getting information about visas and played games to get to know each other. The attendees could have time to say goodbye to each other and CNU. Several students also presented what they did and learnt while staying in Gwangju, Korea and they could listen to graduate’s invited lecture about job search and tips. Nozima Yuldasheva (Mater’s Student, Global MBA, Uzbekistan) said, “During my time in Gwangju, I have gained knowledge and diploma, but also, I got a life experience and grew up as a personality full of ambition and goals for the future. The last two years of my master’s degree were really a lifelong learning experience that will definitely help during my career.”

They also had a barbecue party arranged by CNU International Student Supporters. Then. at the end, there was a little concert and announced the winning team of the games. That team was given some special gifts. This farewell party for international students is expected to be one of channels for making CNU more known for its global campus to foreign students who are willing to study in Korea.
