Chonnam National University (CNU) received the highest grade “A” in the 2022 annual and the comprehensive performance evaluations from 2018 to 2022 in the National University Promotion Project respectively. This project of the Ministry of Education has been designed to support national universities to reinforce their public roles, contribute to regional coexistence and lead balanced national development as a base for education, research and innovation. In these evaluations, CNU was highly appreciated for achieving the project goal of “leading regional innovation through strengthening the public role of national universities and establishing a cooperation system for co-prosperity" based on a high linkage between the university’s development plan and the project goal, and it was highly praised for showing excellent performance throughout the overall project. CNU President Jung Sungtaek said, “The university members and local residents worked hard from the start of business-plan development to sharing project performances. As a result of their efforts, we had the excellent performance evaluations. CNU will keep making efforts to expand its public role, cultivate regional human resource and enhance research competitiveness.”
