“Yongbong Daedongpuri,” the annual festival at Chonnam National University (CNU), took place from September 21 to 22 after two years of absence due to COVID-19. The festival’s theme “7UP!” (Cheer Up!) was centered around two things: One was to celebrate CNU’s 70th anniversary and the other was to encourage students’ post-pandemic campus life by giving them opportunities to make unforgettable memories at the festival. The festival consisted of various programs such as music concerts, entertainment activities and food booths. The main highlight everyone looked forward to was the music concerts, and CNU student clubs and renowned artists all brightened the stages over the two-day period. Kim Hyeon-ji (Senior, Dept. of Industrial Engineering), Planning Director of the Student Council’s Festival Planning Group, said, “We didn’t expect so many people to show up at the festival, so it was hard to maintain order. It was a shame that due to a lack of budget the main stage was not as big as we had hoped.” This year’s festival was considered a success, and many students had a good time. Lilya Absesselem (Exchange Student, Faculty of Business Administration) said, “I came from France where we don’t have festivals at universities, so we learned and discovered a lot of things. It was a very memorable experience.”
