CNU International Summer Session (ISS) 2022 successfully finished on July 20. International students had a farewell party that day, receiving awards for being outstanding participants and certificates of completion. Foreign professors were also given certificates of appreciation. During this session, 27 international students from 20 different countries, including the U.S., France, Taiwan, New Zealand and Malaysia had the chance to experience Korean cultures as well as gaining knowledge through lectures. It was the first in-person summer session at the university in three years after two online sessions for the past two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The international students experienced cultural activities such as cooking Korean traditional dishes, learning Taekwondo, having a K-pop dance lesson, and visiting the historic sites of the May 18 Democratization Movement. Kim Min-ju (Sophomore, Dept. of English Language and Literature), who attended the ISS and participated in a buddy program for foreign students, said that “I got positive energy from international students by accompanying them on various Korean cultural activities. Not only international students but also ISS Korean buddies enjoyed the whole program.”
