The Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) virtual program for Korean language organized by the Language Education Center at CNU, was successfully completed on August 22. This year, 15 U.S. students who were selected by the U.S. Department of State took part in the program. They were divided into three different levels for studying Korean from June 30. In addition, Korean students at the university, selected as language partners, helped the CLS students study Korean and do assignments. Although this year all activities were inevitably carried out online due to COVID-19, the American students had a meaningful time, learning Taekwondo or learning about the history of the May 18 Democratization Movement. "Every experience contributes to my understanding of the region, people, and traditions. Through my language partner meetings, I have not only had the opportunity to practice Korean, but I have made a Korean friend," Vishwanath Sahithya Gowri (Senior, Dept. of East Asian Studies and Computer Science, College of William and Mary) who participated in the CLS Korean program said.
