CNU announced on January 11 that it would create a ‘Democracy Road’ on Yongbong Campus. Starting from the Main Gate, which is the starting place of the May 18 Gwangju Democratic Uprising, it links several historical sites for democracy at the university including the Martyr Park Gwan-hyeon Monument, the Martyr Yun Sang-won Statue and Martyr Park Seung-hee’s Memorial Stone. CNU has a plan to facilitate the trail as an educational environment and open a cultural park for Gwangju citizens, students and visitors from other regions. The trail of democracy will open on May 18, 2020 to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the May 18 Democratic Movement.
