CNU marked the formal beginning of a new chapter for incoming freshmen. The welcoming ceremony for new students took place on March 2, from 2 p.m. at Minjumaru on Gwangju Campus, officially inducting 6,046 incoming undergraduate and graduate freshmen into CNU. About 1,000 people including incoming freshmen and school faculty members showed up on the day. During the ceremony, 187 students, who achieved top academic successes, were presented with Presidential Awards. President Chung Byung-seok took to the podium and encouraged students to get ready and confidently welcome the approaching ‘The Fourth Industrial Revolution’, which requires opened eyes across borders, great originality, and imagination. He added, “Setting a goal is the first step of university life. Be independent and think of the direction of your future life. The more you think, the more you will grow.”
