With the aim of improving current CNU students’ English writings, a new English Writing Lab (EWL) falls under the umbrella of CORE (initiative for College of humanities’ Research and Education) supported by the Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation of Korea. Reported from Bradley Weiss – one of the Lab’s coordinators, CORE is a government-funded project, the objective of which is to better undergraduate education in the humanities. Unlike a mere proofreading service, the EWL provides tips and feedback on how students’ writing can be upgraded in broader ways, such as with respect to format, style, and clarity. Current students of all majors are welcome to come by for assistance with any English-medium assignments including descriptive writing, self-introductions, cover letters, résumés and so on. Walk-in visits are currently being accepted but interested students are advised to make an appointment in advanced via email with a copy of his/her assignment to jnuenglab@gmail.com. Its multi-national tutors who are all knowledgeable, well-prepared and proficient English speakers are there from 3-6 p.m. from Monday to Friday in Room 308 of Humanities Building 3.
