부정청탁금지법에 대한 의견

The Improper Solicitation and Graft Act, as known the Kim Young-ran law, will come into force on September 28 this year. When it goes into effect, public officials, journalists, private school teachers and their spouses will be banned to get treats or presents over a certain price. I totally agree with Kim Young-ran who proposed the anti-graft legislation to root out any kinds of corruption prevalent in our bureaucratic society. What I am concerned about is that the applications of the law are still ambiguous. Several terms such as “public institutions”, “public officials or relevant persons”, and “financial or other advantages” need to be more specifically defined. To make the new legislation effective, the law application system must be detailed in order to prevent the law from fizzling out.
