On May 28, a Korean speech contest with the topic of Korea’s unification under the slogan “One Dream, One Korea” was organized for international students at College of Human Ecology building, Chonnam National University (CNU). Under the organization and sponsorship of Jeollanamdo Council, Global Peace Foundation and Korea International Students Support Association (KISSA), the contest attracted students from Vietnam, Japan, Indonesia, Kenya, and Nepal with outstanding Korean speaking ability. Bobby Darmawan from Indonesia won this year’s gold medal with his speech: “A Choice for a Better Future: a Unified Korea”.
Besides sponsoring this annual event, KISSA has had plenty of involvements with CNU students. Every year, it organizes a cultural exchange program between Korean volunteers and international students to promote language and culture learning, networking, getting involved, jobs, etc. KISSA seeks to be a bridge between the international student community and the Korean society and further contribute to mutual understanding and world peace starting from Korea.
