아동학대 방지 대칙

▲ Oh Yeo-bin (Junior, Department of Biology)

Recently, a series of child abuse cases, especially those caused by family members, have shocked our society. It made many people realize the seriousness of child abuse and led them to insist upon much more powerful laws and longer sentences for perpetrators. Although family members are most likely to be the perpetrators of child abuse, there have not been any strong laws against it. Child abuse is sometimes neglected because child abuse occurs confidentially at home where others do not notice the crime. The nation should come up with laws and policies that explain the responsibilities in protecting children from abuse and neglect. In conclusion, I suggest that the government should find an effective and feasible way to stamp out child abuse by adopting new systems to detect and help children who are in such bad conditions.
