The Goethe-Institut Gwangju, one of four language centers operated by the Goethe-Institut Korea, opened at CNU. The opening ceremony of the Goethe-Institut Gwangju was held on March 14th near the Main Library at CNU. This center offers German language training courses and information to students who are interested in Germany and German culture. After the ceremony, a German singer, Maximilan Hecker, did a performance at Yehyang Hall, Fine Arts 3 to celebrate the new center in Gwangju. Before the official opening ceremony, two months ago, there was a welcoming ceremony which was held last January 15th. At this ceremony Angela Jeannette (Language and Cooperation Officer of Gwangju Language Center in Goethe Institut Korea) said, “Seoul was designated as the headquarters of the East Asian region of Goethe-Institut in May, 2011 and other Goethe-Instituts have been built in Daejeon and Daeju. And finally, the 4th Goethe-Institut has been built in Gwangju. I would like to thank everyone who prepared for the new opening of the center.”
