Professor Na Kan-chae published "Making History from the Revival of the Gwangju Uprising"

Professor Na Kan-chae (Dept. of Sociology), former director of the May 18 Institute of Chonnam National University (CNU), published a new book about pro-democracy movements in May right in time in commemoration of the May 18. The book is written with two critical perspectives first focusing on the importance of social movements in the making of the society and the other is about the range of damage that can be brought by concealing and distorting human history.  The book dealt with the entire democracy movements all over the country since Gwangju Uprising in May 1980. The author-professor requested CNU students to build up strength to self-reflect and self-reflection of life or death. He also added that, “The civilization is going but only dead fishes are swept. You, young people should construct your own world of spirit.” He recommended ‘Indignez-vous!’ By Stephane Hessel and by Viktor Emil Frankl as a good read to empower the students to know about the importance of social movements in the society.
