           An international student from Kenya, Brian Sambu Kwemoi (Senior, Dept. of Business Administration) was found dead at his house last 6th of May 2013 by one of his friends. He was on a business trip to Kenya just a week before his death. His colleagues have said Brian was suffering from a mild toothache when he was back from Kenya, and no other signs of illness were found with him, thus enjoyed the rest of the weekend watching football matches with his close friends.
           Chonnam National University (CNU) and Office of International Affairs (OIA) prepared a memorial service on 14th of May 2013 for the close friends, family, and colleagues to pay their respects to their beloved friend. During the memorial service, president of National Institute of International Education, the home institution of international students invited by the Korean government to study in Korea, spoke about the great grief of losing someone so bright in his eulogy. Next the representative of the Kenya Embassy in South Korea thanked the government and the CNU for the cooperation for this tragedy. Brian’s close Korean friend said in his eulogy “When I heard the news of Brian’s death, I could not believe my ears. We will miss the days when we all played football and watched football matches with Brian.” Another friend who is also from Kenya said in his eulogy “Brain was happy and positive all the time during his living period, even though he is in heaven he will be always be the same old Brian. “

           The autopsy report showed the reason for this tragic death as internal cerebral hemorrhage. One of his close friends have said “I cannot believe Brian is just gone like that, if anyone was there to take care of him, if anyone lived with him and was able to assist him in the emergency; this would not have happened.” After the memorial service, close friends and family members had a meeting with the OIA to talk more about the tragic incident; thus to talk about the remaining matters. Brian’s remains are scheduled to be sent back to his family and his home country Kenya 15th of May 2013. Brian entered CNU in 2010 after one year of Korea language training at Yonsei University under the Korean Government Scholarship Program for Undergraduate Scholars where 2 were invited from Kenya.
