Yongbong Forum:

Special Lectures from the World Class Scholars

    The Yongbong Forum, was a series of special lectures for the 60^th anniversary of Chonnam National University (CNU) and was held from September to December 2012. The first lecturer, Chang Ha-joon, a professor of political economy at the University of Cambridge, presented his views on the crisis of capitalism and the future of the Korean economy last September 20^th. On November 15^th, 2007 Nobel Peace Prize Co-laureate Dr. Sergio C. Trindade gave a lecture about climate change and sustainability. At the last forum on December 3^rd, Kang Sang-jung, a political scientist and professor at the University of Tokyo in Japan presented a lecture about how Korean youth are faced with extreme competition and its side effects, and the value of neoliberalism in today’s society. Professor Hong Sung-heup, Chief of the 5·18 Institute of CNU said “The purpose of the Yongbong Forum was to offer a vision and to make a contribution to international solidarity.”
