Action Wins the G(F)SC Elections

Action Plus candidates won the 2013 General Student Council (GSC) and the General Female Student Council (GFSC) elections on November 16th. Action Plus is the sole candidate for this year’s elections. In order to win the elections, they needed over 50% of the total turnout of voters. Out of 15,743 voters, 8,394 students (77.31%) were in favor of Action Plus candidates for the GSC (agree: 6,499, disagree: 1,420, invalid: 484, error: 38, error rate: 0.48%). For the GFSC, out of 8,090 voters, 4,420 students voted, 79.35% of ballots were agreed (agree: 3,542, disagree: 698, invalid: 348, error: 49, error rate: 1.1%) for Action Plus.
The 45th GSC President-elect, Kim Min-kyu (Senior, Department of Agricultural Economics) said, “I will keep my promise for everyone.” “The GSC will repay for the students’ trust,” said the GSC Vice President-elect, Yang Gun-jae (Senior, School of Business Administration). The 45th GFSC President-elect, Park Ji-sun (Senior, Department of Forest Resources) said, “I worried the invalid ballots due to error rate in initial result, but I am very pleased that the GFSC had highly agreed.”Lastly, Park Yu-mi (Senior, School of Business Administration), the GFSC Vice President-elect, appreciated the students who had voted in spite of the cold weather.
It was planned to open the ballot boxes at 8PM however, it delayed until9:05PM because of delayedballot-counting in some colleges. The GFSC ballots were counted first,a ruling based from the Central Election Management Commission (CEMC). It finished at 3:35AM including total 2 hours discussion of CEMC due to formal objections from incumbent G(F)SC. After 30 minutes, GSC ballots boxes had opened from 4AM. Announcing the victory of Action Plus for the GSC as well, the CEMC ended the deliberations at 7:55AM Korean Standard Time.
