The mandatory meal system for the Build Transfer Lease (BTL) residents will be finally abolished, and is liberalized completely from October 31st, 2012.  The representatives of Chonnam National University (CNU) Residence Hall , the General Student Council president, and a corportat UDMC had a meeting on October 31th to negotiate repeal the obligatory meals for students who live in the BTLy. Students have locked horns with UDMC, current resident hall-controlled company, about paying for refectory obligatorily which is included in total dormitory fees. The stance CNU General Student Council and residence hall was to change the mandatory meal to selective one because not every student has a meal at refectory. However, they met the strenuous opposition from the UDMC, who says that it would cause a lot of problems such as an increase of the meal price, difficult management problem, and so on. During the meeting, UDMC wanted to keep the system, at least 2 mandatory meal system, but it was rejected and the mandatory meal system. With this, CNU dormers will be not be required to pay mandatory meal fees but will pay according to their own need.
