Wall Street, New York, the so-called financial capital of the world was crowded with young people from last October. They hold pickets with the written words, “NO more money for Wall Street and War, Demand Job & Income for Workers & Poor”. The Chonnam Tribune asked CNUians, “Why are young people gathering on Wall Street?”

Yoon Young-jo (Junior, Dept. of Library & Information Science)
I think the U.S. government should search for a new way to control Wall Street’s C.E.Os and companies. The government gave companies in the financial sector huge help for resolving the subprime mortgage crisis in 2009, but did not make a law or a rule to control their activities. All of these cases make many citizens feel angry and there is a sense of crisis on Wall Street. U.S. citizens give their opinions and their demonstration can be a turning point to change the attitude of the government and C.E.O.s.

Choi Woo-jeong (Freshman, School of Applied Chemical Engineering)
Wall Street’s financial companies have to know their faults. The U.S. citizens helped them with financial support but the companies ignore their favors. It makes young people feel angry and gather to occupy Wall Street. I think it is very natural that young people raise their voices against such a big problem. The companies are responsible for the current economic crisis and they need to perceive it. The young people have to struggle to correct wrong doings and to lead the country in the right way. It's   their right and duty.

Byun Jae-woong (Junior, Dept. of Chinese Language& Literature)
I do not exactly know why they are gathering to occupy Wall Street, but youth unemployment is one of the main reasons for the case. Honestly, I cannot feel anything towards the issue because I am far from the employment problem - especially in the United States. However, many young people cannot get a job, but the rich on Wall Street make a lot of money even though they made huge mistakes which could cause a worldwide economic crisis. I think it is unreasonable for young people. If young people were not aware of this situation, they would not go to Wall Street.
