Be Thankful for the People Closest to You

How often do you say “Thank you!” to the people closest to you in your life? Sometimes you see and hear things that make you very thankful for what you have. And things sometimes happen that make you thankful for the people that have helped you along the way. Let’s have a moment to think about them. When we are hurt and are suffering, who would stand by you? Your family and friends might share the pain with you and give you confidence to endure the hard times. But I think it’s very easy to forget to thank those people and to overlook how important they are in our life only because they are always around us.
Actually, a few days ago, I lost a precious friend in a traffic accident. He was a very supportive friend of mine over the past couple of years. When I heard about the accident, I was so shocked that I could not believe it until I saw it with my eyes. As I saw a picture of the deceased, I could not help but burst into tears. I really felt sorry for him; it seemed to me that I was not a good friend to him. Recently, as I have been busy with my own personal business, it was hard to keep in touch with him. After saying good-bye to him, I realized how I missed all those chances to express my thanks to him and how important the existence of the people closest to me is. How much do you care for your family or friends? Do you hardly talk with them or keep in touch? It is always necessary to take care of our family or friends because they are all we got in life and they cannot always be with you. When you are in trouble, they will be the first ones those who give you a hand, and they are the only ones who can understand and comfort you well.
Why not try to express your sincere thanks to the people closest to you, your dear family and friends today? I know it is quite awkward to say it out of the blue. We can express our heart-felt thanks not by giving them something like a present, but simply by saying "Thank you". Your heart will be filled with happiness, as will theirs. I hope that my friend can hear my thanks in heaven.
