Whenever the end of the year is coming, many TV programs broadcast special shows which look back on their work for the year. They feature highlights of the year and in the final moments of the show, the emcee promises a better show the next year. Not only do TV shows do this, people have year-end parties that look back on the memories of the year and greet a new year. Based on these annual customs, I truly understand the saying, "the begininng and the end are like two sides of the same coin". Yes, the end lets us know that a new beginning is coming soon.
This year, especially, the Chonnam Tribune has undergone many changes. The once-color magazine has changed to tabloid newspaper format. In accordance with this change, Chonnam Tribune reporters created new columns such as ”Reporter’s Sketch” and “Tips for School Life” and tried to devise better ways to communicate with our readers. Moreover, the three media outlets of Chonnam National University (CNU) Press and Braodcasting Center, The Chonnam National University Weekly, CNU Broadcasting, and the Chonnam Tribune, which were located in different buildings, have been integrated on the second floor of Student Union I this year. It was a refreshing experience for all of us and it was challenging to adapt ourselves to the new circumstances. In spite of all that, I believe that every cloud has a silver lining: the end of the magazine and the start of the tabloid newspaper represent a great leap forward for the Chonnam Tribune and the CNU Press and Broadcasting Center.
At the end of this year, I will complete my term as a tribune reporter. From being a cub-reporter to being a head student editor, there were so many stories to tell and memories to share and they are still vivid in my memory. I cannot believe how fast the last two years flew by. As the Chonnam Tribune is a big part of my campus life, I feel sorry to complete my term as student reporter. However, as I mentioned above, this is not the end, but another beginning. Even though I am not a student reporter at the Chonnam Tribune anymore, I will start a new relationship with the Chonnam Tribune as a devoted reader and give lasting support to it. The experiences and learning through the Chonnam Tribune will be the spiritual nourishment for my life. Lastly, I would like to address this fine paper directly.
Dear Chonnam Tribune, thanks to you, I have learned to work together in a group, write articles in English, think from various angles, see many diverse people, and cultivate valuable relationships with my co-reporters. Of course, sometimes it was hard for me to study while busy being a reporter. Nevertheless, I found more treasure than trouble being with you. All I want to say to you is just "thank you". Thank you a lot, my dear Chonnam Tribune.
