International students who study Korean language at Chonnam National University Language Education Center (LEC) did voluntary service that helping the senior citizens at a nursing home in Damyang on August 11^th. It was one of the cultural activities organized by the LEC, and about 20 students participated in taking time to ‘share love’. The participants visited the nursing home and entertained old people with various performances such as performing a play and singing songs, and gave the elder good shoulder massage. According to the event coordinator, this volunteer activity was designed to make the foreign students understand the tradition of filial piety and duty maintained in Korea through generations and how to respect the elderly. Federico, an Italian student who took part part in the volunteer activity gave his thoughts that it was definitely a meaningful activity for himself and he felt really great about seeing their delighted faces.
