How well do you know our campus? Sure you may know many of the buildings, the libraries and other facilities, but have you ever heard of ‘Eung keum Dongsan’, ‘Teletubbies’Dongsn’ or the road of ‘Beethoven’? These are three places known only to CNUians. The Eungkeum Dongsan is a small hill located behind the University Administration and Student Union Ⅰ building. Usually local residents come to the hill to exercise but after dark, some campus couples come to the hill to meet in secret. School janitors have caught more than one couple there late at night, at least according to some old campus legends. Rumours were quick to spread and soon the hill became known as ‘Eungkeum Dongsan’ the hill of shame. The ‘Teletubbies’Dongsan’ is near the College of Liberal Arts. It looks like the garden from the TV program ‘Teletubbies’. In the spring, many students bring their mats and have lunch in the garden. The road of ‘Beethoven’ is a small walk from CNU’s Back Gate to the College of Engineering. The road is uneven and sycamores line both sides of the road like Beethoven’s walks in Vienna.
Chonnam National University (CNU) has several cafés for its students and members all over campus. On Yongbong campus, café Inben is very famous, a take-out only café located near the College of Humanities. The coffee house on the second floor of Student Union Ⅰ is commonly called café Il-saeng, and is also popular with its comfortable mood. Seojihyang, the book café on the first floor of Library Ⅰ, is attracting students by offering space to enjoy coffee with books. Decadence, the café located on the first floor of BTL dormitory commercial area, has put up a sign for its chocolate café which has various chocolate beverages and products. Near the Language Education Center there is the café Angel-in-us, a franchise coffee shop which has a neat, stylish atmosphere and slightly high prices. Café Neutinamu finished its remodeling and re-opened recently, on the first floor of the CNU Museum. You can enjoy the view of Yong-ji pond through the windows of Café Neutinamu. Café Inben, café Il-saeng and Café Neutinamu have the same menu, prices, and use the same coupon system.
