That Make Campus Life More Convenient

IRIS building at Osaka University
Like in all universities, students here spend a lot of time studying in lecture rooms and the library. But here at Osaka University there are various other facilities that make campus life more convenient. First is the Information Room for International Students (IRIS), a special place for exchange students with locations on both the Toyonaka and the Suita campuses. All international students can visit the IRIS, use computers, read books, magazines, newspapers, have lunch and so on. They can also exchange and gather information with BSP (A group of Osaka University students who help international students) members. Moreover, a couple of staff members are always present in the IRIS to provide assistance to international students. Next is the Media Center, where students can print their documents for free. Unlike Korea, printing is very expensive and it is also very inconvenient to print documents with the printer in the library or elsewhere, since the files must be in PDF format and be saved on a USB stick. However, in the Media Center there are a number of computers for students; we can use a computer and printer whenever we want. The maximum is 300 pages per student per semester. Lastly, students can borrow a study room in the library. The library on the Toyonaka campus is a huge 5- storey building with many rooms for students equipped with the devices for a presentation. Unlike Chonnam National University, if at least four students go together to the library counter and request a study room, they can borrow a room at any time without having to get up at 6 AM and make a reservation. . These facilities make campus life at Osaka University easier and more comfortable.
