As of this year, Chonnam National University will subsidize about 70 percent of international students’ health insurance fees and make the insurance system more convenient for them. Almost every international student who has entered the university this year is obliged to join the health insurance program. International students can receive benefits to treat nearly every disease and injury. The only exceptions are dental problems and pregnancy. They are also able to use the health insurance system more conveniently. In the past, international students had to pay hospital bills and then received their insurance refund after a week or two. But now they can get treatment without paying upfront, provided they bring their identity card and their insurance card to the hospital. Those looking for a hospital near campus can try:  Ilgok Hospital, Im Myeong-su Internal Medicine, and Boram Obstetrician.

Dr Lee spoke to a full house in Yongbong Hall; many in the audience had to stand in order to attend her popular lecture. She talked about the process of becoming the first Korean astronaut and of her experiences in Russia. She said, “Things that you do not think necessary now could turn out to be useful in the future. As time goes by, you will realize that something that you thought trivial and useless was part of the process that helped to make your dream come true.” Lee So-yeon also emphasized, “Circumstances that you think are obstacles can bring you greater honor when you succeed. Do your best to achieve your dream and bring honor to your university, CNU.”
