CNU Welcomes Its New International Students!

  CNU has 145 international students in 2010; 102 freshmen, 33 transfer students and 10 Korean Government Scholarship Program students. The number of foreign freshmen this year is nearly double last year’s enrollment. . This year CNU selected 66 students during supplementary recruitment and lowered the applicant qualifications so that more international students could apply to the university. Most are Chinese, but some students are from Russia, Mongolia, Brazil, Japan and other countries. Additionally, 28 exchange students from China’s Yanbian University, Brazil’s São Paulo University, Japan’s Osaka University, and the Public University of The Philippine’s will study at CNU this year.
 
 
Convenient Computers for Every Student

CNU has provided exclusive computer equipment especially for foreign and handicapped students. In order to better meet their needs, the University Computing Center (UCC) has launched a total of seven special computers in UCC room 109. Computer equipment for handicapped students are set up with special peripherals, software and assistance goods, which can help physically, visually, and hearing impaired students. Also, there are setups for students’ safety such as Braille blocks and automatic doors. For foreign students, the UCC has four computers installed with foreign language based software, Chinese and English; two computers are available for each. The software provides all programs and systems, even the operating system in Chinese or English. A UCC official, Hwang Eun-ok, said, “These computers will be very helpful for those students who are not completely comfortable with using a computer or using programs in Korean. We have made these changes so that students can use UCC equipment without any inconvenience.” 
 
 
CNU Signed Agreement with Nong Lam University

  CNU has made an agreement with Nong Lam University (NLU) which is located in Vietnam for mutual cooperation on February 24th. Trinh Truong Giang, President of NLU and Bui Minh Tri, Dean of Plant Bio-Engineering visited CNU and signed an agreement. Through this academic tie, both universities can exchange advanced studies and joint research and CNU can reinforce its international competitiveness by sharing various research activities and results with NLU from this year.
