As the new semester begins, most students have set a goal and made plans to achieve it. These days it is common for university students to set a goal such as getting employment, good grades and certificates of qualification and so on. Making plans at the new starting line is important and exciting. Everyone wants to develop their own ability toward a better life. For this reason, I came up with some goals and make yearly, monthly and daily plans at the beginning of the New Year. However, in retrospect, I used to fail achieving all the plans. Although I made detailed plans and checked them meticulously, it was hard to finish all the things. Why?

Change, whatever it is, is very difficult to make. You already know that change demands considerable investment of effort. Doing everything you want, you cannot realize the change. You get some, you lose some. Constant exertions and strict self-discipline longing for change will be the key of success. As many young women do, I sometimes determine to lose weight with strong will. It was extremely strenuous not to eat delicious food and to do exercise constantly. Earnest effort and breaking old habits should have been supporters to my plan. As Rome was not built in a day, change is not accomplished in a day. Change and challenge is compared to a marathon rather than a 100 meter race, so endurance over spurt in a short period of time make a player win the race. You might as well estimate the instant result as having long-term sight. Above all, the most important thing is to finish the race. Do not give up your race until you touch the finish line although you face hurdles and hardship reminding you that you have the goal you have to attain.

Chonnam Tribune is in the middle of change and challenge as well. As mentioned above, it was also tough when we planned new change at the start. Every reporter has striven to proceed with the process step by step from the beginning of last winter vacation. We put our heads together to find how to attract readers of the Chonnam Tribune. Because of these endeavors, this newspaper published in March is much more precious than before. But it is just beginning, so we had to make progress steadily toward a better Chonnam National University English medium. What is your goal of this semester? I hope you complete the marathon race successfully. Good Luck.
