Lattes, macchiatos and cappuccinos. Coffee is the most consumed beverage in Korea, but many may not realize that tea is becoming increasingly popular. What’s so special about tea? Not only is it good for your health, but more and more exotic blends are becoming easily available. Chonnam Tribune asked some CNUians, “Do you enjoy drinking tea? If so, what is your favorite tea?”

  “White Dandelion Tea”
Seo Eun-ju, Sophomore, Landscape Architecture Major
One of the unique teas I have drunk was ‘white dandelion tea’, which is made from a very rare flower. This tea is especially good for the liver and relieving constipation. It’s a clear light brown, like barley tea. It’s good to drink often because it does not have a strong aroma. You can buy the flower powder or make it yourself . It’s easy to drink. If you use powder, just add hot water for a fragrant cup of tea.

  “Hydrangea Tea”
Park Ji-hye, Sophomore, Dept. of English Language Education
Ordinarily, I do not enjoy tea. However, I do have a favorite: ‘hydrangea tea’. It is also known as ‘Minto snow dew green tea’. Many CNUians may have tried it. If you go to ‘Minto’ near CNU’s Back Gate, a server brings it with a menu. Its taste is so good that most people do not order other tea. If it’s mixed with ‘brown rice green tea’, it’s even tastier. If you haven’t done so, please try it, I’m sure you’ll enjoy it’s unique flavor.

  “Forget-me-not Flower Tea”
Choi Mi-hyun, Senior, Dept. of Animal Science
When I want to feel refreshed, I usually drink ‘Forget-me-not flower tea’. Its color is limpid yellow and its taste is refreshing, unlike other tea. If you refill the tea pot with hot water after drinking the first infusion of this tea, you’ll find the second infusion even tastier. It calms and recharges my mind.. It helps to promote good digestion and is beneficial for flu and dermatitis. When I want to drink this tea, I go to an Angel-in-Us café. It’s the perfect companion for a long chat with friends or just studying quietly on your own.

  “Maximowiczia Chinensis Tea”
Kim Sang-hyub, Freshman, College of Veterinary Medicine
I would like to introduce ‘Maximowiczia Chinensis tea’ which has a clear red color. It tastes very sweet like a pomegranate. I first drank it when I was very young. I often dilute Maximowiczia Chinensis liquid with cold water. It is an all-natural beverage and is my favourite summer drink, When I’m feeling parched, I prefer it to water or any other beverage. . I like hot berry tea, too. It is sweeter than cold tea. It is better than ginger tea for healing the flu and promoting good circulation . In addition, it is also a good remedy for gastritis. If you drink this tea everyday, you will be healthier.
