Improve Yourself

Yang Hyo-jung, Senior, Dept. of Economics

It is getting warmer day by day and this weather makes us feel vivacious! However, many of you

guys know that this year will not be that good compared with last few years because of the global financial crisis. I think with the Chonnam Tribune, many students have become more developed through this magazine. It would be helpful to you read English articles and gain a more profound understanding of events around the University.
This magazine gave me useful information in our society or new events of our school and I wonder how this magazine could have so many articles that are related to global issues. So, as one of my English conversation club (EAG) seniors recommended this magazine to me, I would like to the same thing to you. This magazine will motivate you to study English with various subjects. To contribute small articles like me is also a great chance to show your thoughts. Try CNUians Now!

If You Want to Get Something..!

Kim Ga-hye, Junior, Dept. of Fine Arts

I was first introduced to Chonnam Tribune through one of my friends who recommended it last semester. Out of the various articles, what caught my eyes most was the one about “Jindo Ssitgim Gut”, our traditional ceremony, in “The Road to Namdo” column of the last issue. I was really impressed because it covered the subject very profoundly. Reading the article, I thought we all study English and English culture these days, but there are not that many students who care about our traditional

culture. I, majoring in Art Thoery and at the same time being under the pressure of studying foreign languages, definitely including English, actually feel some sort of sadness about the present situation. Now, as all of you and I have some new strong will to study English, how about reading about our great traditions in English in the Chonnam Tribune? I think it is a brilliant way to know ‘us’ and ‘others’.

I would love to thank all people engaged in publishing the Chonnam Tribune prior to saying my opinion. That is because I know keeping track of any sort of topics and to write well-designed articles is a really torturous job. Therefore, I have always been pleased to get the periodical magazine Chonnam Tribune as well as read it. I have surely tried to get the newest issue even. If I cannot read it I keep and read it a little while later. I can take advantage of reading this magazine in the intervals of going through university education and preparing for the class of the English conversation club, ECHO. What is more, I could be aware of some useful information that I really wanted to learn about before I read this magazine, especially the articles like “World Campus” that introduce the stories of CNU students experiencing a global intership.

Lastly, I want to say  that if to have  more interest in the university life around you, you can benefit a lot from it.
