Move CNU! Move Chonnam Tribune!

Yoon Yea-sun, Sophomore, Dept. of Anthropology

When I was freshman, my English skills were poor. Thus, I felt it was difficult to read newspapers written in English. I wanted to read English newspapers or magazines such as the Korea Herald, the Korea Times and People. At that time, I saw Chonnam Tribune on campus. Now my English ability has advanced thanks to this English magazine. In last issue, I was especially impressed with the article entitled ”Move Twenties!” l felt ashamed of my sneer and indifference about society after reading the article. Actually, I was interested in candlelit rallies because I opposed U.S. beef imports. I just had an interest in the candlelit rallies, but I had never participated in one of the rallies. Now, I have decided to pay attention to issues in our society and assume an active attitude. I believe that we can change our society better today than earlier if we move. Fighting 20's!

Pioneer of CNU, Chonnam Tribune

Yang Hang-gyun, Senior, Dept. of Business Administration

I read this magazine for the first time when I was a sophomore as a recommendation of my friend who was a guest reporter of Chonnam Tribune. Since then, I have read this magazine steadily. Now I am a devoted audience member of the Chonnam Tribune. Every time I read this magazine, I am really impressed that it is so informative and there are so many student contributors with excellent English skills at the University as well. Moreover, through the articles in the magazine, I can easily see other students’ opinions on current social issues, which have broadened my horizons. Also in studying English, I could learn various useful expressions. As a university student who wants to be a distinguished man of talent in the world, I think it is essential to subscribe to this magazine and to practice and improve English skills. I hope that more students have an interest in this magazine and Chonnam Tribune will lead CNU students to be fluent English speakers as pioneers of CNU.

Every Jack Has His Jill, Is True?

Jeong Mi-ryeong, Senior, Dept. of English Lang. & Lit.

Usually, I enjoy reading magazines and learn lots of facts through the magazines. Chonnam Tribune has especially made me know about a variety of university life issues and other students like me, and it is very easy to understand. The cover story of the last issue “How Is Your Love?” was so interesting. Maybe most singles felt the same way I did, I think. I have met many couples on campus but I did not care about them. I just thought they looked good. After reading the article about “LOVE” I have to think about it. When I traveled to Thailand with my friend, someone who is working there told me like this, “Come with your boyfriend next time!!” At that time I answered “I will come alone and meet a nice guy there.” But now my thoughts have changed. Chonnam Tribune made me want to fall in love with someone. ‘Every Jack has his Jill.’ is it true? If not? OH MY GOD!
