River Boy (Tim Bowler, 2002)

The two main characters of this book are Jess, a 15 year-old girl and her grandfather. She is a competitive swimmer and loves her grandfather, even though he is stubborn. He is a professional artist. Jess’ family returns to the area in which he grew up. The place is near the river so that he can finish a painting called "River Boy." As I read this book, I could not understand the existence of the River Boy. Who is the River Boy? The River Boy suggests to Jess that she should help her grandfather complete his painting. While he paints, Jess explores the river. She finally discovers who the River Boy is and knows of his goal! That is to swim from the source of the river to the ocean. After I finished reading this book, I thought about why her father wanted Jess to help him. To a girl, it is very difficult to leave her grandfather. The River Boy may be the angel of her grandfather. To help her overcome this hardship, the River Boy may teach her how to live the rest of her life.

The Secret (Rhonda Byrne, 2006)

I think how you are introduced to a book greatly influences how much you like it or at least how open you

are to liking it. My best friend introduced this book to me. She even drew lines under important sentences she wanted me to remember. I was really surprised when I saw the underlined parts of the book. To summarize my impression of this book, first, the book deepens my understanding of the law of attraction and also provides numerous examples of how to apply it. Second, the uplifting presentation of the book engenders a positive attitude towards life. Third, it makes me remember that I can use my power more often than now. Among these impressions, the most striking is the first one about the law of attraction. The lesson is to think of what I really want to do, and concentrate on it, and then the law of attraction comes true. When I was a child, I was not a Christian. However, I always prayed for God to help me. That law is like my experience. Whatever we do, our mind set is a key. We have to think about our goals, and then endeavor to achieve them. Now, I am applying these secrets to my daily life.

★ Game & Music Review

Super Mario (Nintendo, 1983)

Mario is a very famous game character who is known far and wide. People who play this game for the first time will immediately enjoy playing the game to challenge the record. People who played this game 10 years ago can enjoy playing the game to feel nostalgia. The plot of the game story is very simple, Princess Peach and Mario are out on a date, and then suddenly the lightning strikes the castle. Mario rushes to the castle of the incident. At this very moment, a monster Koopa kidnapped the princess. The game starts as Mario attempts to save the princess from the monster. When I played the game for the first time, I was surprised at big Mario. I was crazy about this game and sometimes I played it all through the night. A tense atmosphere could be felt in the last boss map. When I was younger, I used to watch the animation of Super Mario. At that time, Mario was my idol character even if he was not tall and handsome, but he still made a positive impression on me. If you really want to play a classical game, why not you enjoy this game!! Let's play it!!

Provance (Hideyo Takakuwa, 2003)

This album gives you the best timbre which an album can make for your nice vacation. It has not only a flute timbre with Missa Johouchi's touch who is an orchestral music conductor but also elegant traditional classic and grace of pop from a billboard chart top producer K.Yoshioka. Hideyo Takakuwa had persevered in his efforts to impress Provance into the heart as well. He is the one of the musicians who is held in respect for the lyrical timbre at the movie and drama. He is a flutist who has been taken to compliments. If you want comfortable rest with classic, I will recommend this disc. Close your eyes and concentrate on Provance which Takakuwa recommends as a mediterranean rest area. You will be able to free yourself from restraints through this album.

★ Movie Review

Once Upon a Time (Jeong Yong-gi, 2008)

This movie is very comical because the actors use dialects to give the audience a funny image. In the special point of view, however, it makes me think of the history of our country, especially in the Silla period. In my opinion, a big diamond named “the Light of the East” in the movie is the spirit of Korea and also symbolizes the thousand -year-old history of the Silla. For these reasons, the authorities of Japanese military want to steal it. What is your own “the Light of the East”' in your life? If you do not know it yet, please search for your own light. I hope you will find it in the near future.

The Best Moment of Our Life (Im Sun-rye, 2008)

The movie is realistic and dramatic because the movie is based on  the real story of the Korean women’s handball team in the 2004 Olympics held in Athens. The motto, "Adversity is a training for man" is a theme in the movie. Like this sentence, members of the team show dramatic results. As the case of of the real story, the movie became a cultural event and a successful film in 2008, even though the main characters of the movie are all women and its subject matter is related to handball, which is not a popular sport in Korea. "We are not the first, but the first is not important because we did our best." This remark touched the hearts of over the three million people who viewed this film. How about you? Did you do your best in your life? I would like to recommend you see the film.
