<#280 Letters to Chonnam Tribune>

Hi! Chonnam Tribune

Hong Seong-eun, Senior, Division of Plant Biotechnology

I feel attraction to Chonnam Tribune, one of the CNU's magazines. I think that this magazine has many strong points as compared with other magazines. To me, I keep reading the magazine because it is an English one and has good information. I am surprised at its articles dealing with variety of themes. Before reading the article titled “Miss Moms” in the last issue, I did not know that this word would become a new part of our society. I personally think miss moms are selfish. I wonder who can be really satisfied with such an artificial life, miss moms or their children. Moreover, the children need both father’s and mother’s care to learn a diverse gender role. Anyway I had a great time to think deeply about the miss moms from a different point of view. Thank you Chonnam Tribune!

What’s Your New Year’s Plan?

Mun Seong-jin, Senior, Department of English Language & Literature

The first issue of Chonnam Tribune of 2008 has useful contents to be worth reading such as the debate about miss moms and the enviable experience in . Of those, the article which attracted me was Desk Column entitled with “Practice Your Personal Kaizen”. It is already March. I want you to hear your answer to the question, “Did you make your New Year’s plan?” Sad to say, I have not made any New Year’s plan yet. For this reason, the January issue made me think about what I want and should do. Though I make a plan at the beginning of every year, I usually fail to fulfill my plan. As the article suggests, to practice my personal Kaizen is the best solution to end my bad habits. I know I cannot change my habits suddenly. However, if I try to change myself by practicing Kaizen, eventually I will achieve my goal! Next time, I want to tell you my successful Kaizen story and to say “Chonnam Tribune, thank you so much.”

Chonnam Tribune:

A Platform for Globalization

Imteyaz Qamar, Ph.D. Student, School of Biological Science & Technology

A few days back I came across with the article, “The Secret of Their Success”, by Park Sa-ra and Lee Han-na in the previous issue of Chonnam Tribune and it has compelled me to express my opinion. Honestly, to be critical on any subject is very easy but suggesting remedies and overcoming problems are the most difficult jobs. As a foreign student in CNU, I am very much delighted to read the outstanding efforts made by the First Overseas Cover Team (FOCT) by understanding various interactive programs for globalization carried by different universities. This would help an interaction and integration among the students of different countries on various aspects and also develop the exchange relations of CNU with many universities abroad. I also found that Chonnam Tribune is a great platform for ongoing news, debates, and understanding various cultures and activities of different countries. I must be thankful to the Chonnam Tribune team for making such a great effort for designing the successful future of CNU.

The Way to Enjoy English

Na Chan-ho, Junior, Dept. of Business Administration

Reading about others travel stories always makes me excited. As a travel buff, I want to learn everything that exists in the world. In this context, one student's travelogue about makes me hot with excitement. Whenever I read Chonnam Tribune, it gets me very interested because it contains not only informative English articles, but the vivid travelogue as well. I am willing to use my spare time to read the whole content. Nowadays, most students are under pressure to get a high English score on the TOEIC and TOFEL tests. It changed the real meaning of learning a foreign language such as English. Whenever I read the Chonnam Tribune, I can fully enjoy English and get absorbed in it. Thank you for making a high-quality magazine and your endeavors refresh me.
