A Fresh Start for 2007 with Chonnam Tribune

Every time I pick up the new issue of the Chonnam Tribune, I'm so happy because it is not only a substantial magazine but also good material to study English.

The last issue provided time to work out my New Year's resolutions, looking back upon the last year. It also gave me a lot of useful information.

Especially, "The IC: There for Our Future!” article; the introduction of International Center programs and words of encouragement to challenge to partake in them, provided useful tips for students who didn't know about them or who, like me had hesitated to apply for such programs.

The most impressive part was "Be positive and Your Dreams Come True." which introduced Jin Jeong-hoon, a sommelier. I saw his name and school on some other newspapers before. At that time I, as a CNU-ians was curious to know who he was. So I read this article for the first time.

His courage and faith in his own dream left a deep impression on me. These days there are actually many students who have forsaken their dreams and just pursue a stable life. This article could help such students to revive their forgotten dreams and ponder seriously upon their future.

Finally, as a great fan of the Chonnam Tribune, I wish that this magazine continues to introduce a variety of CNU news and useful information so that we all flourish much more throughout this year.

Last issue was mainly focused on the New Year and I found it well organized with a variety of gripping articles. It included an inspiring article that really interested me, "Make the Most with the Least in 2007!" in the New Year Special. Basically, I agree with the writers’ advice and it is true in the main part.

English is the major language of news and information in the world and is the language of business and government even in some countries where it is a minority language.

Accordingly, we have no choice but to learn it, for your English level must be the measure of yourself. Nevertheless, we all well know it is not that accessible to everybody.

Most of the students struggling with English would dream of going abroad and some of them who can afford it finally make their dream come true.

However, it doesn't seem to work. Not all but most of them waste huge amount of time and money abroad and come back with no outstanding results.

Technically going abroad or only talking with natives is not solely a crucial factor to learn English. And there are students who are completely inept when it comes to English and have difficulties at home. But while it brings difficulties, practice makes perfect; you should be able to get better with constant drill and repetition.

And just as the writer Cho said, take full advantage of university. Once you look around your campus, there are various things which allow you free access to English .Chonnam Tribune is a good example. Chonnam Tribune contains lots of articles written in easy but sophisticated English.

It not only gives you much information of your campus but assists you learning English. Live every single day with your eyes and ears wide open because perfect ones are not easy to come by. In doing so, you will without a doubt be able to witness the very turning point of your life.
