Whenever I come across Chonnam Tribune, I am very pleased. When I was an undergraduate, I once wrote an essay about my experiences backpacking in the paper. Since then, I've paid special attention to this campus journal, because I became aware of what the magazine was about. I always appreciate all the efforts reporters and editors make to publish each issue every two months.

Now, I'd like to tell prospective regular readers of Chonnam Tribune something about it. There are, I think, three big benefits from reading Chonnam Tribune. First, it is good for you to improve your English proficiency. According to a second language educational principle, skimming, not scanning, contributes to learners' acquiring fluency in language acquisition. This paper doesn't push you to read whole reports line by line, so what you are supposed to do is just running your eyes over interesting articles. Nowadays, there are many periodicals at hand such as Time, Newsweek, Economist, etc. However, unless you are advanced in English, you will soon find these are not so easy to read. Most articles in Chonnam Tribune are stories about your neighborhood. It is easy, authentic and informative.

Second, Chonnam Tribune consists of immediate information. It can offer you content-based benefits. In other words, sometimes you can be informed of something by the paper. In the last issue, for example, the feature story about many scholarships was useful. One of my junior friends made up her mind to apply for a scholarship, while reading the Tribune. I'm sure there are many more out there like my friend.

Last but not least, Chonnam Tribune offers you a good chance to make your opinions public. How it feels when your writing is printed in the paper will be beyond description. It can give you not only a practical reward but also a mental one. That is, you'll find you will become full of confidence, once your writing is printed. In addition, accomplishment of the bi-monthly tasks involved in publication show an admirable quality on both the part of the paper and the participants.

Then, how does Chonnam Tribune meet such readers' expectations, and how could Chonnam Tribune be more professional? First of all, you Tribune can make the magazine more trustworthy by trying to make less mistakes and typos in content and delivery. It is true there used be a range of errors in the magazine. I hope all your efforts aren’t lessened by continued mistakes.

Second, Chonnam Tribune should be more competitive. It should make demarcate itself against other journals. To do so, reporters would be better to avoid writing about topics with which readers are already familiar. Otherwise, it seems repetitive and not so attractive.

Third, Chonnam Tribune should be more communicative. It's a local and specific journal. Taking advantage of this, it could be more interactive with readers. It might be quite a long journey to make the grade. But readers' affection and staff devotion is the first step to make Chonnam Tribune the very paper which all the students want to ― and are supposed to ― carry around.
