Students and alumni have celebrated the 70th anniversary of the foundation of CNU. We interviewed two students and received the congratulatory messages from two international alumni. – Ed.

Sen Nguyen (’16, Dept. of English Language and Literature)
To be honest I did not expect CNU would be my second home when I first arrived from Vietnam. But clearly, I was wrong! The kind and brilliant academia, the excellent international student support services and the enthusiastic fellow students from Korea and many parts of the world, and most importantly this was also where the first years of my journalism career were nurtured - all these and more are the reasons why I will always think of the university fondly. What makes it even more special is the incredibly warm-hearted Gwangju people. The community made me a better person with newfound perspectives and a reminder to always be empathetic when we can.

Alvina Joanna (’16, Graduate School of Business)
Cheers! To 70 brilliant years! Hearty congratulations to my university on celebrating 70 years! CNU has been instrumental in the history of the country and continues to pass on a legacy that inspires its students to this day. The sprawling campus and amazing communities make for an experience that will last a lifetime. During my time on campus, I was blessed with great lecturers who encouraged me, multiple opportunities that enabled me to explore my talents and wonderful colleagues who made me feel at home. I look forward to the future of CNU and the students who will blaze the trail for a new era.

Park Yeon-ju (Freshman, Dept. of Landscape Architecture)
I would really like to congratulate CNU on its 70th anniversary as it has protected the values of democracy and inherited the spirit of Gwanju. I think the university has many programs and opportunities to help students experience the wider world. I hope CNU will be a leading university to offer a high-quality education for students to achieve their potential in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. I will develop my talents constantly while studying at the university. I hope CNU keeps shining as it has been for the past 70 years.

Kim Tae-ho (Sophomore, Dept. of Agricultural Economics)
Congratulations on the 70th anniversary of CNU. I have learned a lot of things at the university. Particularly, through club activities, I have made some good friends and met many seniors and juniors of different ages with different majors. I think the university is a place to learn not only from studying in class but also from meeting a wide variety of people through extracurricular activities. It also provides opportunities to learn how to build and sustain human relationships before entering society. I will keep trying to take a step forward by participating in university-operated programs. Congratulations once again!
