CNU students were officially invited to screen in the non-competition category of a film festival with their short film. They also received the Distinguished CNU Members of the Month Award by Jung Sungtaek, President of CNU on Oct. 25. Jo Byeo-ri, Park Hyeon-young, and Jang Hae-yeong who are majoring in communication, turned their ideas into a movie by using the university’s latest video equipment and receiving financial support from the Blue Dream Scholarship Association, established by the alumni of the Department of Communication. Their film “Our Sea” portrays a friendship and internal conflict among two people with disabilities and their friend.

It has received favorable reviews for articulating a social view with disability and following inner conflicts. Jang said, “We have all been close friends since we were freshmen, then we thought about making a film to spend our time more productively. While deciding to make a film about friendship without biases, we thought that handicapped are some of the people who are discriminated against the most. We wanted people to realize how prejudice affects handicapped people and we wanted to eliminate discrimination and prejudice towards them through the movie.” The movie was screened at the 22nd Gachibom Film Festival held from Nov. 11 to 14 in Seoul.
