The CNU Museum won the 2021 University Museum of the Year Award from the Korean Association of University Museums on October 14. It was selected as the winner of the award from around 100 museums across the country in recognition of its contribution to the local community and the development of university museums through a variety of exhibitions, educational programs and activities. The museum has provided opportunities to local residents and the university members experiencing a wide range of exhibitions, by operating Larchiveum and invitation exhibitions for artists every month even during the pandemic period.

It has also been well-received by audiences to offer virtual exhibition services via VR Exhibition with 8k ultra-high definition and a 360-degree panoramic shooting system. A curator at the museum said, “This award is very meaningful in that our museum was selected in a crisis situation of institutions for culture and arts due to the prolonged COVID-19 situation. The University Museum will have make more efforts to become an institution for culture and arts that communicates with the university and local communities through exhibitions, research, and education.”

Among those invitation exhibitions for artists, the “With Myanmar” exhibition in May was meaningful as it was held at CNU, the sacred place of the democratization movement. The Larchiveum, which refers to a space that provides all the functions of a library, archives and a museum, was established in collaboration with the University Library and located on the third floor of the Jeongbomaru.
