▲ The blueprint of Campus Innovation Park at CNU

Chonnam National University (CNU) has undertook the task of building an urban high-tech industrial complex on campus. On April 1, CNU was selected for leading a ‘Campus Innovation Park Project’ that has been jointly pushed by the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the Ministry of SMEs and Startups. With heated competition from 23 universities, only CNU and Kyungpook National University were finally chosen. The project aims to advance industry-academic cooperation and to transform universities as the center of an innovation and growth ecosystem while utilizing the locational advantage and innovation capacity of the universities. The campus innovation park which contains various facilities such as housing and convenience stores, as well as research and business institutes, is scheduled to complete its construction on the sports ground and tennis court sites near CNU’s Main Gate by 2024. CNU President Jung Sungtaek said, “The Campus Innovation Park will create an innovative infrastructure and expand an ecosystem for startup support and industry-university collaboration in our region, as an advanced base which fosters startups and high-quality jobs using innovation technology.”
